Kidd Rock’s Story

Shortly after the devastating loss of our beloved Ambassador, Hoss, in September 2017, we were blessed to meet Charlie Evans at The Draft Horse Classics in Auburn, CA. Charlie is the owner of Cal Crush Rock Company in Ripon, CA, and was at the Classic with his Cal Crush Clydesdales 8-horse hitch team. After learning about Hoss and the very large void in our hearts and our program, Charlie very generously donated one of his young Clydesdales, a then 2-year-old named Kidd. We renamed him Kidd Rock because he came from a rock company and because we love Kid Rock!  A lot of people are unaware that Kid Rock is also a huge supporter of our Veterans.

Kidd Rock was bred by Tony Knecht, the 5th-generation owner of Castagnasso Clydesdales of Santa Rosa, CA, and we are proud to be connected to this incredible multi-generational family dedicated to the Clydesdale breed.

Kidd Rock made his first official Ambassador debut at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Elk Grove, CA, on July 2, 2018, where he was blessed by Father Julito and did a meet-and-greet with the parishioners.

Kidd Rock will begin his driving training soon and, hopefully, get his learner’s permit by late summer/early fall.

"The horse. Here is nobility without conceit, friendship without envy, beauty without vanity. A willing servant, yet never a slave."       ~Ronald Duncan
